Inside Self-Storage Announces ‘Best of Business’ Opinion-Poll Winners
Inside Self-Storage: Best of Business Profile - MakoRabco
Authored by Angie Guerin, National Sales Manager
1. What products and/or services does your company provide for the self-storage industry?
MakoRabco designs, supplies and installs self storage structures nationwide. Utilizing our team of experts, we assist with concept design and layout, and provide structural engineering services in addition to providing and installing a wide variety of building materials for vertical construction.
2. Please provide a brief history of your company, from inception to present day
Mako was founded in September of 1993 with a business plan that focused not just on building quality self storage structures, but on building solid relationships with our customers and vendors. Over the last 19 years, MakoRabco has been involved in the construction of over 1500 facilities across the country, and has maintained the same mission statement from day one: to treat our customers like family and our vendors like friends.
Over the last few years as the tides of the self storage construction industry have ebbed and flowed, our company’s mission statement and staff that have remained dedicated to it have helped to keep the company successful and solvent.
3. What is your company’s reaction to being elected as an ISS Best of Business winner? How does this honor tie in to your company mission?
We’re proud to have been voted "Best Builder" - it’s a great honor. There are a handful of well-respected and well-run businesses in this category, and we’re excited that a majority of voters felt that we were ahead of the pack. Over the years, we’ve worked really hard to maintain a credible and reputable business, and to always treat everyone involved in the success of our company fairly. This honor belongs as much to our vendors as it does to our staff.
4. What makes your company unique from its competitors?
MakoRabco employs one of the most talented, educated and diverse groups in the steel building industry. We’re a small company with great capabilities because of this asset. We maintain an in-house engineering and drafting staff, and our remaining staff take an "all hands on deck" approach to doing business. There are no corporate layers to penetrate with our group. Our success is a direct result of this business mentality.
5. What are the company’s future plans?
We’re staged to have a great couple years. We’ve taken our hits with all the rest of the industry in the wake of the recession, but we’ve maintained and have worked hard to build a backlog that will get us through these trying times. Our goals are to continue growing with the industry, continuing to diversify and providing top-notch customer service and quality buildings, at a competitive price.
6. Is there anything else you’d like our readers to know about your company and its leadership?
There are five words that we believe make up the backbone of our organization. Loyalty, Dedication, Experience, Responsiveness and Customer Service. Each member of our team embodies those words in all of their day-to-day work within this industry. We’re proud to be the team we are today and are proud of the staff that has worked so hard to get us here nearly 20 years later. We look forward to making continued contributions to the industry and to setting the "bar" by which other metal building companies are measured.
